Running Pace Guide: How to Calculate and Improve Your Speed
Calculate your running pace, average speed, and predict your race finishing times with our expert tool. Learn how to optimize your training for better performance.
Pace is a measure of how many minutes it takes to cover a specific distance, such as a kilometer or a mile. For runners, understanding your pace is crucial for training, race planning, and tracking progress over time. Whether you're training for your first 5K or a marathon, knowing your pace helps you train at the right intensity.
To use our Pace Calculator, simply enter the total time you spent running and the distance you covered. Our tool will instantly calculate your average pace and speed, and even provide predicted times for common race distances like 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon.
How to Calculate Pace
The basic formula for pace is: Pace = Total Time / Distance. For example, if you run 10 kilometers in 50 minutes, your pace is 5 minutes per kilometer (5:00 min/km). Speed, on the other hand, is Distance / Time, which in this case would be 12 kilometers per hour (km/h).
