Mifflin-St Jeor & Macro Calculation

The Mifflin-St Jeor equation is considered the gold standard for estimating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). It was developed in 1990 and has been validated against indirect calorimetry studies, making it more accurate than older formulas like Harris-Benedict.

Mifflin-St Jeor BMR

Male: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) − (5 × age) + 5

Female: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) − (5 × age) − 161
